REV. GEO. H. RAY DIES AT ASHLAND. Was One of Most Prominent Methodist Ministers in Virginia. Ashland, Va., March 18, 1911--Rev. George H. Ray, D. D., one of the best known Methodist ministers of the State, died to-night at 10:20 o'clock at the home of his son, Dr. A. C. Ray, in this city. Dr. Ray was a member of the Methodist Conference for a period of fifty-seven years, and during that time he had held charges in various sections of the State, having at different times been assigned to Richmond churches. He was widely known throughout Virginia, and the news of his death will be received with sincere regret in church circles. Dr. Ray's last appointment was to the church at Spotsylvania, and while there, on August 15, 1909, he suffered a stroke of paralysis, and this was the cause of his death. Shortly after being stricken he was brought to his son's home here, and he had remained there ever since, until the end came to-day. He was born in the District of Columbia in 1832, and was nearly eighty years of age. Dr. Ray is survived by three children, Dr. A. C. Ray, of Ashland; Rev. George H. Ray, Jr., and Mrs. West, all of whom were with him when the end came.
